Wed, 27 Aug 2008 02:07:02 PDT- When Tennessee changed its schedule around to open the season Monday night at UCLA, its athletic department and coach Phillip Fulmer spun the decision as an opportunity to play a national TV game on Labor Day night.
Yet for a few extra dollars, the currency which runs everything in life, the Volunteers opted to take a chance. Instead of an almost sure win against UAB, which was supposed to be the opener, UT made the switch and now faces a trip across the country.
A trip across the country with a first-year starter at quarterback, to boot.
"The fact that we are breaking in a new quarterback makes things more interesting, I think," Fulmer said.
Jonathan Crompton is that new quarterback, and the pressure is squarely on his broad shoulders.
